When coordinating an evening of entertaining guests, there a few things you should do in order to plan the perfect dinner party. You will want to wow your guests and have them talking about your dinner party for days.
The first rule of thumb in planning the perfect dinner party is to first decide on the date your dinner party will take place. Once that has been established, you will want to send the invitations to your party at least one week ahead of time to give potential guests time to check their schedules and rsvp to your event. From there, based on the response of potential guest, you will be able to plan accordingly for the number of guests who will be attending.
Now that the menu has been selected and you will avoid food allergies, you will need to plan how you will set up your dinner table. This decision will be an easy one to make depending on if you want to have a formal or informal dinner party. For a more formal dinner party, you may select a white tablecloth and for an informal you may choose from any number of colors. For informal gatherings you can buy an inexpensive set of melamine dinnerware and use the colors and patterns of that set to inspire the rest of your decorating. The setting may also include candles or perhaps a lovely flower centerpiece. The dinner table is really a matter of your own personal preference and tastes.
Going back to your menu, you will want to avoid preparing a dish you have not tried before. You will want to select a meal that is familiar to you to avoid any food preparing mishaps that may occur. Also consider great make-ahead dishes so that last-minute cooking will not take you away from your guests. Taking a pencil and paper, write down your menu and the ingredients that will be needed to prepare the meal. You may have items already so make sure to check your pantry so that you will not have double ingredients and this will help you to save time and money. Make sure to start preparing your menu the day before or on the morning of your dinner party so that you can rest assured it will be ready in time for dinner. This also will allow for any cooking errors that may occur. Also, keep in mind to have beverages for those who may not drink alcohol.
After planning out your dinner party, you will be sure to have a wonderful dinner party. Once you have planned and prepared for this event, you may sit back and partake in the fruits of your labor and enjoy your dinner party guests. Good luck!
